Mi Hyun Kim is a seasoned interpreter/translator with ten years of experience, specializing in literature, children’s books, military, and history.
After graduating from Ewha Girls’ Foreign High School as a French major, she earned her B.A. in both English Language and Literature and Chinese Language and Literature from Korea University and her M.A. in Korean-English interpretation from Ewha Womans University Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation.
She started as a Language Specialist at the United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission, headquartered in South Korea, and was later promoted to the Deputy of the Language Section. After six years, she moved on to the managerial position for the NAVER V LIVE project, in full charge of all subtitle translations—both real-time and pre-recorded—for live streaming videos of K-pop and K-drama stars such as BTS.
For ten years, she has worked on multiple literature translation projects run by the Publication Industry Promotion Agency of Korea (KPIPA). And to follow the latest trends, she has expanded her areas of expertise to include video subtitles, webtoons, and web novels. She now also runs her own translation agency.
