Women in your twenties, a quarter of your life is over!
Will you give yourself a dramatic makeover, or will you stay as you are? This book offers you the only way for you to live a happier, richer, and healthier life.

4. Aboutthe Author

This is an upgraded version of the third edition of Women, Make or Break Your Life in Your Twenties, the bestseller that met with popular response among Asian readers and sold over 3.8 million copies. in-sook Nam, the author, who had opportunities to meet a wide range of women in her career as a screenwriter, scenarist, and freelance writer, noticed what women who led happy lives had in common, and found a way for women all over the world to apply it to their own lives

5. About the Book

This book, which reveals the how-to of living a happy, successful life, has been published in China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, and Mongolia, since its first publication in 2004. Since the publication of the first revised edition in 2009, the book has been added upon, and this new edition includes how to establish values and act accordingly in a digital environment, especially for readers in their twenties who make high use of smart phones and social network services.

The keyword to happiness which the author, in her early thirties when the book was first published, found was “materialism,” or the idea that you should choose what is the most advantageous to you, and bring you the least regret, when you are faced with important and complicated decisions in life. To women who are used to a passive attitude toward life and accept whatever life throws at them, the author suggests becoming a lovable egoist, and presents 38 examples through which women in their twenties can change their lives for the better.
The guidelines presented by the author, based on practical thinking and wise self-love, that can be followed in everyday life, have persuaded many readers to follow suit.

The book, made up of nine chapters in all, is full of specific suggestions: become a materialist in your twenties; discard delusions of happiness; start managing your environment; invest to change your destiny, realize the powers of positive thinking; establish your ideas on money; think about your choices regarding marriage. It helps you reflect on yourself, to see if you aren’t living with an attitude of resignation, thinking, “I don’t really have a choice”; it offers realistic advice on relationships and how to manage the people in your life; and deals with main interests of women, such as how to “use marriage to make dreams come true,” as one of the titles says. In all, the book tells you how to be happy in your twenties, when you have the most time and opportunities, and continue being happy in your thirties.

The book, starting with a message to women in their twenties, who are trying to set a course for their life with only vague dreams and goals, telling them to face up to life and see exactly where they stand, will serve as a wise guide for those who want to go beyond the difficulties of everyday life, as well as an uncertain future, and find a direction in life.

Can we successfully ‘survive’?
Lately, a question of ‘Can we successfully survive’ comes to mind often.
Because of the rapidly deteriorating environment, increasingly brutal crime, while walking, going to the bathroom, on the ship for the travel, we constantly suffer the threat of death.
We constantly feel afraid of getting harmed from someone in this poor surrounding and constant competition. Conversely, sometimes we are cornered in a situation to harm someone else in exchange of survival. Dignity as a human being is hard to keep in this generation.

Can’t we survive if we harm nothing?
Main characters Suhan and Yieun, who call themselves herbivore, struggle to find a way to live in this world, symbolized as a ‘carnivore-world’, without harming anything.
Their survival skills are timid and immature. Sometimes they are left behind from the competition. They blame themselves and get discouraged when that happens.
But these herbivores survive using their own style.
These skills of theirs will be used to think about the ‘co-existence’ with the neighbors, the environment and the animals.

These new species of human race aim for minimal consumption instead of greed and for valuable life.
But if you look closely, it’s not just all about bohemian romances. Sometimes you get pushed off from the dangerous carnivorous world and so it leads you to be a herbivore. Desire to fulfil the dream, desire to own, desire to love. Desire-emasculated feeble youth in front of the infinite struggle for existence. Sending them a word of support.
