2024 Overseas Publication Grants: Guidance for Applicants

KPIPA provides Overseas Publication Grants for the overseas publishers who have imported or are planning to import Korean publication copyrights.

 

Overview of grants

 

• 
Qualification: 
Overseas publishers who have imported or are planning to import Korean publication copyrights
Books that have been published or are to be published in local markets, beginning November 1st, 2023 to October 31th, 2024
Such books must be published in the time period and be submitted to the Publication Industry Promotion Agency of Korea (“KPIPA”) by November 11th, 2024 (Monday)
Publishers can apply up to only 5 titles maximum
• 
Scope of selection: 
Around 50 books will be selected, and grants will be provided in amounts varying by region
Europe and the Americas 4,000,000KRW, China and Japan 3,500,000KRW, and other countries 3,000,000KRW

Procedure for successful applications

 

• 
Announcement of successful applications: Selected companies will be notified individually in June
• 
Signing of Publishing Support Agreement
In accordance with the agreement, the copyright page of selected book must include a statement indicating KPIPA’s support in publishing the book

For books that have been published already, a sticker should be used in place of a printed statement, but when reprinting, the copyright page must be revised to include such a statement.
• 
Submission of published reports and published books
Published books must be submitted to KPIPA by November 11th, 2024 (Monday)
• 
Grant payment

 

Notes

 

• 
Submitted documents and works will not be returned.
• 
Books without a formal Overseas Publishing Contract may be excluded from selection and the publisher is responsible for any and all problems that may arise in relation to such books.
• 
Books that have already received or are awaiting the receipt of a grant from another Korean agency, such as the Literature Translation Institute of Korea or the Korea Creative Content Agency, are not eligible for this grant. If a single book is found to have received grants from multiple agencies, sanctions may be taken, such as the cancellation of the agreement and retrieval of grant funds, regardless of whether the agreement has been signed.
• 
Books selected for grants may be used for non-profit purposes by KPIPA, such as the promotion of KPIPA’s business.
• 
If the publication or submission of a book is delayed without justifiable reasons, or if the content of the publication report is deemed unsatisfactory, the grant may not be paid.
